Background
Back in 2018, I became interested in forming my own chapter of the Sisters of Perpetual
Indulgence in Denver, CO. I was told by Sister Unity from Los Angeles, CA, that I would need a
total of five people, including myself, to begin the Aspirant phase. It wasn’t until early October
2019 that I was approached by Sister Unity, who informed me of another group interested in
forming a chapter in Denver.

In March 2023, I took a three-month sabbatical to focus on myself and my family, returning
in June. Then, in January 2024, I resigned my membership with the Golden Nugget Sisters.
After many months of being a “Rogue Nun,” I decided it was time to hang up that title and return
to the Golden Nugget Sisters in October
2024.

In the Summer of 2024, I learned how to sew my own habits and ever since it has taken off! Its gotten well enough that I also take commissions from other Sisters across the country and some local pastors want new vestments!

Why Did I Become a Sister?
As a young gay man, I wanted to do more to support our community – not just by going to
bars to support local drag or by donating to various organizations each year.

In my youth and throughout high school, I dedicated many hours to community service: from
beach and park cleanups to canned food drives, adopt-a-family programs, and walks for cancer
and multiple sclerosis. I’ve previously volunteered with the NFFC (National Fantasy Fan Club),
the Lions Club (Morgan Hill), the Rotary Club, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and served a
term on the Relay for Life: Morgan Hill Board. I’ve also been involved with The Order of the
Patrons of Husbandry (National Grange).

And in 2012-13, my Senior year of High School, I met my first Sisters at Mission High School in San Francisco, CA at a Gay Straight Alliance Conference. And over the years I followed them on social media
